James Jessen, DVM

James L. Jessen, DVM, was raised the son of mixed animal veterinarians in the rural central Illinois town of Girard.  He received a bachelors degree from Eastern Illinois University in Zoology and Chemistry and then graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989.  Dr. Jessen practiced for 8 years at Rock Road Animal Hospital in St. Louis before coming to Four Paws Animal Hospital in January 1998.  He enjoys the human-animal bond very much and takes a keen interest in ophthalmology and dermatology.  He lives with his wife Shelley, children Eric, Elle, Emily and Kyle and treasured pet Sophie.
